Abstract
Sarah Hendrix (1942-1977) was an author and poet. She graduated from Denison University with a bachelor’s degree in English (1964) and from the University of Chicago with a master’s degree in English language and literature (1966). The Sarah Hendrix Papers, dated 1970-before 1977 November 27, contain short stories and poems written by Sarah Hendrix. The collection also contains two photographs of Hendrix.
Administrative/Biographical History
Sarah Hendrix (nee Conway) was born in Oberlin, Ohio, on April 13, 1942. She attended Denison University and graduated in 1964 with a degree in English. Sarah married Richard G. Hendrix in September 1965 while they were both students at the University of Chicago. She graduated from the University in June 1966 with a master’s degree in English language and literature. Sarah worked as an author and poet.
Sarah and Richard moved to Williamstown, Massachusetts, when Richard accepted a faculty position at Williams College. The couple had one daughter, and they divorced in the early 1970s.
Sarah died on November 27, 1977, in White Creek, New York, in what police identified as a murder-suicide.
