Finding Aid Revisions: Original inventories created by Zakia Sultana '18. Finding aid created and data migrated to Archon by Charles Busby in November 2017.
Scope and Contents: Contains papers, correspondence, planners, presentations, and personal documents documenting the transition and development of the "provost" position at Denison University in 1973. The first Provost of Denison University was Dr. Louis Brakeman, who transitioned from being Dean of the College to occupy the newly created provost position; Dr. Andrew Sterrett subsequently became Dean of the College. The new role of provost was intended to relieve the president's office of certain daily responsibilities concerning curriculum, as well as to separate the tasks of curriculum development (the provost's role) from curriculum implementation (the deans' roles). These records document personal correspondence, daily schedules, biographical data, and responsibilities that accompany that transition.
