Title: Dean of Students, 1970-1998

Arrangement: Initially, this series held only an alphabetical run of subject files from approximately 1970-1998. These boxes were listed as an inventory for the overall series. In 2022-2023, a large accession was received that contained accurals for this office. Because of the evolution of the office organization, sub-series were established to reflect different functional areas in the office, such as the Orientation Program, and were given a letter identifier (e.g., Sub-series O - Orientation). These sub-series were then renamed in April 2023 in order to be more aligned with modern arrangement practices (e.g., Sub-series 004 - Orientation).

Files relating to the Office of Student Life and its functional roles on campus.
Scope and Contents of the Materials
This series includes services that used to fall under the "Office of the Dean of Students" which is also known to be called "Office of Student Life" and the subsequent programs and office that fall under that organization, such as "Campus Leadership and Involvement Center (CLIC)." The first sub-series includes an alphabetical list of office and administrative subject files through c. 2011. In 2023, additional materials were added and the series was re-arranged to reflect multiple sub-series that covered areas such as Orientation, First year program, and CLIC.
Because of the change in the organizational structure, there are many other areas in the Archives collection where these topics may also be addressed. Additionally, over the past 50 years, some of the language has changed (and continues to change) in regards to office names, departments, roles, and student service areas. For example, the Dean of Students eventually evolved into the Vice-President for Student Development with multiple Assistant Vice-President, Director, and Dean roles.
