William S. Denison (1794-1880) of Adamsville, Ohio pledged $10,000 and Granville College was renamed to reflect Denison's generosity.  This file contains information on his ancestors, dating back to 1586, along with information on his immediate descendants.  Brief biographical information is also included for the Avery Family, including Alfred Avery who lived in Granville from 1805-1880.  The file also details William S. Denison's and thus Denison University's connection to the Denison family in Mystic, Connecticut.
