This subject file is a general overview over African American students at Denison, focusing on alumni from the 19th century and the early 20th century. There are several lists of names of students, and general information that can be found on them, such as their major, club activites, graduation year or years attended, addresses, or what they did after Denison. Several lists have notes on whether there is a picture of the student available, and if it is where the photo is located--the location is often the Adytum book for their class year, with some exceptions. There are records of individual students as well, and a small pamphlet titled "Denison University: From a Black Perspective" and a list of Black Faculty and Staff. Several articles written about individual African American students and alumni, in addition to African American professors, Black Student Union, and the Black Studies department.

There are several group photos with at least one African-American student from the late 19th century and early 20th century, mostly class photos or photos of the literary society there were in, but there is also a baseball team picture. There are invidivdual photos as well, but the individual photos are more contemporary.

Several lists of African American students at Denison, often with handwritten notes on specific students. Many photos, both group and individual. There are also small articles written on African American students at Denison and their accomplishments.
