Title:
Asian Students at DU (subject file)
Description:
The handwritten note references the September 24, 1929 Denisonian, the obituary of Bertha Fang Dejung found in the Winter 1987 Denison Magazine, page 39, and a quote by her from AB 1932, saying that "Denison is very well known in China because of the number of missionaries' children who come to Granville to college." There are two copies of the same list, both titled "Asian Students At Denison." The list has twenty-eight students, dates ranging from 1907 to 1958. A handwritten sticky note on one list provides historical context to why the Japanese students might be at Denison, while handwritten notes on the other provides additional information about the students. A article titled "Six Asians Are on Faculty, in Junior Class" is included. A handwritten note "June 1962 At Denison" is above the title. Three faculty members, Dr. Kato, Dr. Chiang, and Sung Mook Lee are featured, in addition to three students, Il-koo Youn, Girish Roy, and Roland Liu. The information about the faculty members and students are general, such as what they have studied or are studying, where they are from, and other basic information about them.
